In Focus: Genomic Data. A current stocktaking of the Working Group Gene Technology Report
Berlin: BIH (2024)
ISBN: 978-3-00-078676-1
The stocktaking discusses the possibilities and current status of personal genome sequencing and its benefits for research into rare diseases and cancers, as well as some important ethical, legal and social issues arising from genome research. The reason for the current focus on the various aspects and questions of genome sequencing is the model project § 64e SGB V, which began on April 1, 2024, whereby genome analyses will be included in routine clinical care for the first time, thus enabling the use of genome data in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
With contributions by Olaf Rieß and Julia Schulze-Hentrich, Thorsten Schlomm and Nadine Biernath, Jörn Walter, Nina Gasparoni and Oliver Kohlbacher, Martin Jungkunz, Christoph Schickhardt and Eva Winkler as well as Ralf Müller-Terpitz and Hannah Lilly Straub.
The stocktaking is available online in German and English.
